The RAIN Makers Conference is coming to the Twin Cities this year!

The first day of the conference will feature educational sessions covering key issues such as Corporate Governance, Due Diligence of Human Capital, Intellectual Property and Valuation and Terms 201.  We anticipate more than 100 angel investors representing some of RAIN Source Capital’s 23 funds as well as other investors who may be part of other angel investment organizations.

Day two of the conference will feature a Syndication Showcase in the morning – four showcase companies will present to the group and then the group will divide into four breakout discussion groups to discuss due diligence and investment recommendations.  The afternoon of day two will focus on Exits – a look at M&A, the current market and analysis of some of the RAIN Fund network’s syndicated investments and their exit potential.

Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009- Day 2

The second day of the conference will showcase new opportunities and take an in-depth look at the exit opportunity for a few investments syndicated throughout the network.

8:00 am – 8:30am:  Welcome & Kickoff: Steve Mercil, RAIN Source Capital

8:30-8:45am:  Explanation of the Day: Steve Mercil, RAIN Source Capital

8:45-9:45 am:  New Company Showcase

This company showcase will feature four new investment opportunities to the RAIN Fund members. These companies have already gone through the due diligence process and have been “championed” by one of the Funds.  The group may have already in the company or is currently working through the process.

9:45-10:00am:  Networking Break

10:00-12:00pm:  Syndication Breakouts

Following the showcase presentations, the group will break into four separate teams – one focusing on each presenting company.  The entrepreneurs will be available for a short period of time for questions with the team focusing on their company.  The Champion of the deal will lead discussion along with selected angels with expertise in the area. 

12:00-1:00 pm: Networking Lunch

1:00-1:30 pm: Syndication Showcase- Conclusions/Investment Recommendations

This session will give each team a chance to present their recommendations to the group about the investment opportunity for each showcase company after participating in the 2-hour diligence session and will provide a conclusion to the syndication part of the day.

Afternoon- Focus on Exits

1:30-2:45 pm: Exits – An Expert look into the Crystal Ball – Past, Present & Future

A panel of industry experts will give us their perspective on the current markets and what they are seeing related to their area of focus—investment banking, M&A, corporate activity, and the legal matters related to M&A’s.

2:45-3:15pm:  Networking Break

3:15 – 4:45 pm:  Exit Potential: What is in the Cards for these RAIN Portfolio Companies?

The second session focused on exits will analyze current RAIN portfolio companies syndicated throughout the network and their exit potential.  The experts will analyze company data in advance and give their input on timing, important next steps and likelihood of a successful exit strategy. The session will also allow time for RAIN Fund members to give their evaluation and recommended strategies for exits for these syndicated deals.
