Kevin Learned Joins RAIN Source Capital

(Boise, ID, August 9, 2010) RAIN Source Capital is pleased to announce the addition of Kevin Learned as Vice President of their RAIN Fund Program. In this position Kevin is responsible for overall management and growth of the RAIN Fund Program, which helps local people set up and administer community-based angel investor groups to support local entrepreneurs. This program has organized more angel funds than any organization in the country.

Angel investors and angel investor groups are individuals and groups of individuals who invest their own money in early-stage private companies. According to the Small Business Administration, angel investors provide over $20 billion of investment capital in private companies annually.

Steve Mercil, CEO of RAIN Source Capital said, “Kevin has important and unique qualifications to help us meet the national demand for this program. As a successful entrepreneur, investor, educator and RAIN Fund leader he is imminently qualified to help us expand our program nationally.”

Kevin will work from his office in Boise. He has extensive experience as an entrepreneur, a teacher, a manager and an angel investor. Trained as a CPA, he was the co-founder of Learned-Mahn, a Boise software company that supplied its software nationwide in the banking and hospital industries. He was a professor of entrepreneurship at Boise State, was the President of the College of Idaho, and the CEO of The Network Group,

Throughout his career he has been passionate about entrepreneurial ventures and their financing. He is the co-founder of the Boise Angel Fund, a RAIN Source Capital fund which invests equity capital in Treasure Valley high-potential businesses. He also is a part-time counselor at the Idaho Small Business Development Center where he counsels high potential entrepreneurs.

He has an extensive list of civic leadership positions including immediate Past District Governor for Rotary International. He holds degrees from Yale (BA), Wharton (MBA) and Texas Tech (Ph.D).
